Examination Blanking out

Test anxiety is normal and can even help us function well in testing situations. The problem develops when the level of nervousness is so high that it interferes with what one is there to do. As a result, with two people taking the exact same test, one might be calm, cool and collected, while the other is a pile of perspiration and blanking out. Blanking out experiences comes from cramming information into the short term memory. Short – term memory is easily disrupted during times of stress. Ever notice how one can’t find the keys when one is in a big rush. It’s because short-term memory easily blanks when anxious, like in testing situations.

Catastrophic belief about exams increases anxiety and decrease performance quality. One can lessen these thought patterns by being aware that, is it really true that this one test will be the make or break point for the entire career. If not, work on replacing these extreme thoughts with something more realistic and motivating behaviors. Spreading the preparation out rather than attempting to cram the night before the exam. Minimizations of distractions are vital during the actual test. It can be achieved through wearing comfortable clothes, arriving early to spot, avoiding joining the last minute cram discussions with others, taking break during the tests and so on.

Bid lowest to win

I have written about bid4prizes before also and that time also I had said that it's a cool site. It really is an interesting site. There are so many expensive items and you unlike other bids you don't need to bid higher amount for the stuff you like to have. Instead you bid low and unique amount. The lowest bid with unique amount wins the bid and takes home the product. This time there is a red BMW that I liked very much and just look at its' range to bid .... between 713 cents - 733 cents. I mean how crazy it that. So, sign up quickly to win the coolest stuffs for the lowest price.

Bikes and Scooters

Bikes and scooters enthusiasts have long sung the praises of the two-wheelers; they’re stylish, economical, fast, easy to ride and ideal if you’re young and have places to go. But choosing the right tow-wheeler is a difficult-and very personal-task. So many options, in fact, that finding the perfect one is almost as hard as finding the perfect boyfriend or girlfriend. You have to consider its looks, capabilities, maintenance budget etc.

Engines of Scooters’ are low on one side at the rear, helping maintain balance at low speeds. Motorbike engines are in the centre, for balance at high speeds on rough roads. Bigger engines mean more power and pickup, so bikes over 125cc need disc brakes, stronger chassis, and wider tyres.100cc-125cc bikes have less power and usually use drum brakes, which aren’t good for high speeds. Maintenance routine must be follow in the manual. Stick to riding at low speeds for the first 1000km, and change oil as recommended. Get your bike checked regularly at a good workshop, and buy spare parts yourself. Mileage in bikes over 125cc has only average 40 to 50km/liter. 100 to 125cc bikes are most fuel efficient (about 55/l to 65 km/l). Scooters are less efficient, as they use the same amount of fuel at low and high speeds. Tyres are usually fitted to balance fuel consumption and handling. Bigger tyres mean less mileage. If you’re changing tyres, make sure tyres fit the original rim and don’t touch the swing arm or drive chain. Knobbly trial bike tyres can be dangerous in conditions besides dirt use. Shocks should be always checked. Gas rear shocks are best, but there are well-balanced spring shocks too. Helmets are usually taken as burden. But never ride without one, even pillion. Don’t skimp; good helmets save lives. Make sure yours is comfortable and of good quality, and always wear it with the straps buckled. Keep these in mind when making your choice, and no matter which two-wheeler you go with, always ride safe.

Mint Credit Cards

Credit cards are great to have, especially when shopping. Even you don’t have enough money, still you can do as much shopping you as you like with credit cards. It’s handy and easy to carry where you want to. Unlike money, there is no need to be afraid to losing it or someone stealing it. People often get confused because there are so many credit cards in the market bragging about their service and people don’t know which one to choose. I use credit cards too and I do a great deal of research before buying one. Mint Credit Cards offers a variety of offers like 0% on purchases until 1 January 2008, Online fraud protection, No annual fee, many more and it has recently lowered it’s typical APR to 14.9%. I think that it’s the best credit card deal that I can get and I’m planning to take one for me.

Review: Jazz Vs Spurs - Game 3

Down by 2 games to none, Utah had their mind set to win game 3 in home. Both teams were playing exceptional basketball till the end of the half. Spurs were showing no sign of having home court disadvantage and Utah weren’t ready to lose in their own city. Spurs played majority of 1st half without Duncan due to 3 early fouls that he committed and it was one of the key reasons that Jazz were down by only single digit at the end of the half. At the end of the 1st half the score was 47-43 Spurs leading just by 4. Though trailing it was a good thing for Jazz ‘coz in both the previous games they were down 18 and 17 points respectively at the end of the 1st half.

The hustle plays for the Jazz continued even after the half and they equalized the score to 55 a piece at 10:49 remaining in the 3rd quarter. At 7:54 remaining, Boozer gave Jazz the first ever 2nd half led to Jazz in the whole series: score was 55-57 Jazz up by 2. For Utah Williams was playing as if he was the best player in the floor and Boozer was also unstoppable. At 2:16 still remaining in 3rd quarter Boozer again gave Jazz their largest lead of the entire series 63-71. The crowd was getting wild and they headed for the last quarter with an 8pt lead. In 4th quarter also jazz were playing with the same kind of energy and heat. Spurs on the other hand were making difficult shots and sloppy defense and with Duncan picking up the 5th foul early in the 4th quarter forced them to go small. Jazz were dominating the game. Deron Williams was putting on show in both ends of the floor and was punishing the Spurs. By the end of the last quarter Jazz had established a comfortable lead and eventually won the game, the final score was 109-83.

Thought Jazz had blown out the Spurs, they can’t be too cocky. Spurs are the best team in the western conference and Coach Greg Popovich surely will make adjustments in the team and they will be ready for the next game.

Earthquake Disaster

Kathmandu city lies in the heavy damage zone and suffered with large scale earthquakes. In 1934 an earthquake of magnitude 8.3 rector scale and in 1988 of 6.6 caused serious damage to 60% of the buildings in Kathmandu valley. Return period of such type or earthquake evaluated about 25 to 50 years i.e. we are waiting for a large-scare earthquake in near future.

After 2046, urban areas are growing very fast all over the country and some more in Kathmandu valley. Unplanned growth of the valley creates an immense inability to function as the capital of Nepal, when a large-scale earthquake occurs. In Kathmandu valley only, there are 64 squatters’ settlements and entire population of the city is residing in most vulnerable houses. The demand for land in the valley has lead to live in most vulnerable house and use marginal land prone to natural hazards.

The final’s heat

Both San Antonio Spurs and Detroit Pistons have won the NBA titles and both have reached their respective conference finals this year too. Facing the San Antonio Spurs in the western conference finals is Utah Jazz and in the eastern conference the battle for the finals is between Detroit Pistons and Cleveland Cavaliers. Currently, Spurs are leading the best of 7 series against the Jazz by 2-0 and Pistons are leading by 1-0.

My favorite is Detroit and I think that they are in overall the best team in NBA right now. And I think that they will reach the finals for sure. From western, it doesn’t matter whoever comes. Detroit’s gonna smash them and win the title. Go Detroit !!!

window blinds

I love to decorate my house and windows are one of the key things around my house that I like to decorate and for that reason I love Window Blinds. I’ve got different blinds in different rooms. I’ve always been confused which blinds to choose ‘coz there are many type of blinds for windows available in the market. It takes hours to choose and the blinds aren’t that heart-robbing too. Terry’s Fabrics has earned quite a name as blind supplier in UK and have been providing best custom made blinds to the customers for many years. I went to its site and my favorite is the Wooden Venetian Blinds and I’d love to have one of those in my room. The price they are taking is also standard. I am sure at Terry’s you can find a window to go with each of your room.

Starting computer in a Safe Mode

This time I am planning to give my readers something different. Let’s learn something serious today. Most of us are computer users and usually we have heard about running a computer in a safe mode “Safe Mode” (Safe mode lets you turn off unnecessary computer programs so that you can find the cause of a problem. When you are done, you can turn on the programs again)
Safe mode looks and acts differently than normal Windows.

In Safe mode:
• You cannot connect to the Internet.
• Windows looks different.
• Many programs that start with Windows will not start, etc.

The traditional and the common way to start computer in a safe mode is by press and holding F8 key while booting. The other way which is not quite popular is using a System Configuration Utility. The procedure is as follows:
• First log on with an administrative account
• Click Start > Run
• In the Run dialog box, type msconfig and then click OK
• In the System Configuration Utility, on the BOOT.INI tab, check /SAFEBOOT.
• When you are asked to restart the computer, click Restart
• The computer restarts in Safe mode. (This can take several minutes) When you are finished working in Safe mode, use the System Configuration Utility again to start Windows XP in normal mode.

Now, isn’t it something new that you learnt? Please try it and send me comments about it and tell me what more you want to learn. I’ll try my best to get the trick for you.

Score Learning

Learning is always difficult for children. I don’t have a kid of my own but my cousin is just 10 years old. He couldn’t concentrate in his studies. He just liked to play and watch TV. Then I told my uncle to join Score Learning Center. It’s basically is an educational center that provides a fun way for the kids to learn and catch up with their studies. He joined Score summer program and now my cousin is one of the brightest kid in the block. Score! Has really benefited him a lot. His scores have really gone up high, especially in Math and reading tutors. I am really amazed from his progress and happy too. Now I think that I’m gonna be a Score Parent too when I have a kid of my own.
