The Absence Of Our Late Majesty

1ST June 2001 one will go down in the history as one of the most disastrous day for the Kingdom of Nepal. The whole nation woke up to a shock that Saturday morning when news started to slowly trickle that His Majesty King Birendra Bir Birkam Shah Dev and Her Majesty Queen Aiswarya Rajya Laxmi Devi Shah along with other members of the royal family had passed away. It is an irreplaceable loss fro the people and the whole nation.

Even today I can feel my heart shivering and blood vessels freezing with the realization of the fact that King Birendra is no more. I am sure every Nepali feels the same as I do. His Physical Presence may have come to an end but still he lives in hearts of the people. The overwhelming emotions and sentiments poured down in the streets by MILLIONS of people paying homage to their beloved king’s funeral bespeaks of his immense popularity that he gained over the years .Especially, after the advent of the new system in the country.
